TRAINING ON WING OYSTER PRODUCTION CONDUCTED IN CALUBIAN

           Last March 7-8, 2017 experts coming from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) assisted by the personnel from Office of the Municipal Agriculturist in Calubian  had conducted training on the culture of wing oyster. The said seminar was conducted at the Brgy Hall of Brgy Pangpang and was participated in by the members of the fishermen association of Brgys Juson, Pangpang and Abanilla.



          The wing oyster (Pteria penguin) is a species of bivalve which can be successfully grown in the sea waters of the Municipality of Calubian due to its presence in the wild. It is a kind of oyster commonly used for the production of pearl.

          The seminar started with a lecture inside the Brgy Hall with participants of five fishermen per barangay previously mentioned attentively listened to the speakers. After the lecture, the actual preparation of the materials for the project were set up at the basketball court fronting the Brgy Hall. The following were the photo-documentation of the seminar;
