On January 8, 1919, Governor Charles E. Yeater issued Executive Order No. 4, Creating Calubian as Town. Originally, the name of Calubian was EULALIA, in honor of a prominent lady resident, and was just a Barrio of the Municipality of Leyte Leyte. Due to vast coconut plantation of the place, it was later changed to Calubian.
