AQUA-SILVICULTURE PROJECT ESTABLISHED IN CALUBIAN

One of the project which shows an active collaboration between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Calubian through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMA) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is the Aqua-silviculture project. The principle of putting up this project is a combination of mangrove rehabilitation at the same time setting up of livelihood project such as kingcrab and lapu-lapu culture within the mangrove areas. In the municipality of Calubian, the aqua-silviculture project has been set-up at Brgy Nipa with Mr Fanny Pedida, one of the Agriculture Technician of OMA as the cooperator. (Mr Fanny Pedida, the cooperator in white T-Shirt) BFAR has given support for this kind of project as an incentive for Brgy Nipa as one of the site for mangrove rehab being part of the National Greening Program (NGP) of President Pinoy. Mr Jacinto Ebero, AT-Fisheries of OMA has closely monitored the project to ensure its proper implementation. In fact, even at its early stage of implementation, the project has already drawn visitors just to see how the project was implemented. The following are some photo-documentation of the project; (Mr Jacinto Ebero, Agricultural Technologist- in-charge of the project)
